change of subject with left-field compliment.
Nina closes the book. She hated to leave the realms between the pages but her eyes hurt. This meant she needed a new pair, which made her sad. Of all the eyes she had ever owned, these were her favorites. They were a dark, dark, blue, and turned shades lighter depending on the type of light that entered them. When she was angry, they heaved like the sea, gray and silver. When she was happy, they had a soft, violet glow. She had bought them from an old Turkish woman who was a dwarf and looked like the witch in the story of Hansel and Gretel. This woman had lived in the labyrinthine depths of a library in outer Alexandria, in approximately 0 a.d. .. but according to Nina's grandmother, was no longer alive.
Nina got up and walked to her picture window. The screen saver was a pretty glow worm that stopped glowing when he slept. At least she thought it was a he, but really, she wasn't sure. She touched the tip of his head and he was replaced by the message page:
Psssst
Hey to you
Ghost in the computer, mind in a machine.
Try to be there -- expression is impossible
Because things change the names for themselves faster
Than words are being formed. This is the mode of the vox ..

hmm. interesting. She uses her finger to scroll down to the next message:
Look outside, it is drizzling and the lotus eaters are dancing.[ i have attached the new sketch ]

Smiling she tightens the belt on her silk robe and wanders over to the fridge for a wine spritzer, looks at the cubed window hanging over the kitchen sink. Sure enough, it is raining....
--- the moment I say it is I change it. chalkboard, windex and musty armpits. "transposition." wet branches giving off blotchy dye on the sidewalk. [Through coitus the pair, 'giving' each other their reproductive organs, were able to rid themselves of their anatomy, thereby forming a new, temporary body, a body of displacements.] ---

shadows in boxes
boxes of shadows
and so the sun rose
but it was still dark
born from the swell of smoke....
I was a temporary aperture
through which shards of weak light
fell.
